Béis Review: Honest thoughts on 26" Check-In Roller Luggage, Convertible Mini Weekender, Cosmetic Case, East To West Tote
Hi :) So, I’ve been meaning to make a Béis Review Video for MONTHS. I’ve captured so many clips from my two international trips earlier this year to include in the video, but I just haven’t gotten around to making it. It’s coming… I just don’t know when. In the meantime, I thought I could put all my notes into a blog post :) I’ve screenshotted these notes to a few people who have asked me about Béis this year and they’ve found them helpful, so in case you do too, here you go:
p.s. This is not a sponsored post / I am not an affiliate with Béis. I purchased all my Béis products with my own money during their Black Friday Sale (25% off) in 2022. I believe some prices have increased since I purchased. I received the The East To West Tote as a bridesmaid gift from my friend in May 2023 :)
If you’re shopping Béis, I would highly recommend waiting til Black Friday if you can (or their Sample Sale if you’re near one and have the patience). From my research, it seems like that’s their only sitewide sale. It used to be 30% off, but last year was only 25% off (which is still pretty significant). If you cannot wait or have an upcoming trip, I would really appreciate if you could use my referral link: https://prz.io/JyggdDYi8 <3 (Give a friend $15 off their first purchase and earn 150 points if they spend over $100). Okay, let’s jump into the review!
My thought + research process before buying:
26” Inch Check-In Roller Luggage in Beige:
Context: I’ve taken this on 2 different international trips. The first trip was to Taiwan and Japan (2 weeks) and the second trip was to Japan (2 weeks).
EDIT: I’ve now taken it on a total of 4 trips and it’s still holding up well (most recent pic at the end of this blog post)!
Wheels were great! We went over all sorts of terrain in Taiwan and Japan—walking to airbnbs, through the airport, train stations, uneven pavement—and I felt like the luggage glided pretty smooth/easy for the most part. It’s definitely easier to push because it gets pretty heavy to pull.
However, in the few instances you need to pull, the memory foam under the handle actually is very nice haha :) It really helps cushion some of the sudden weight shock I felt from switching from pushing to pulling the luggage.
The inside of the luggage was nice and the different compartments were good for loose items (masks, undergarments, smaller things). I didn’t fully utilize all the pockets, but I liked the flap that pressed everything down. It felt like both sides were secure and fastened.
The dirt bags came in handy for dirty clothes, my tofu plushie, etc. They’re really high quality bags and I saw all my family members using them too.
The weight indicator came in handy!!! I actually forgot all about it til the end of our trip - four of us had opened up the expandable zipper and had pretty heavy luggages, so my dad originally told us we would have to look for a scale to make sure it wasn’t overweight .. and that’s when I remembered that it has a built in weight indicator! If you hold it from the handle on the side, you’ll activate the weight indicator. If it turns red = over 50 lbs. None of ours turned red (the heaviest luggages were mine and my mom’s which both weighed 21 kg = 46.2 lbs each). EDIT: On my most recent trip, I discovered packing cubs (I was using Amazon ones, but I recently ordered some Beis ones, so will review those when I get a chance to try them out) and I was able to stuff so much in my luggage that even though there was extra room, the weight indicator turned red. It becomes a bit of a guessing game as you try to remove just enough for it to not turn red anymore. Our hotel didn’t have a scale, so it really came in handy!
I didn’t use this, but Ryan made use of the little strap handle on the front side of the luggage! It can hold up to 15 lbs and he would attach a smaller bag on there :)
I am glad I went with the 26” instead of the 29” because I think it would be very easy to go over 50 lbs in the 29” luggage. A couple of friends who bought the 29” luggage told me they wish they had gotten the smaller one since they would often go overweight.
Beige color was a miss… If I could go back, I would have gotten a darker color like brown or black. I know that it doesn’t mean it doesn’t get dirty, but the lighter color REALLY shows all the scuffs and scratches. After the very first flight, we were all like 😭😭😭 seeing the big scuffs and marks. Some of them wipe off easier, and some seem much harder to rub off (I stopped trying). I’m really glad I got my Mini Weekender Bag and Cosmetic Case in black :) If you care about protecting your luggage from scratches, it would probably be a good idea to get some sort of luggage cover. I’m not sure if I care that much now that mine is already dirty LOL
Final thoughts: The luggage is definitely my favorite thing from Béis and the one thing I would repurchase and recommend without hesitation. I think a good luggage is one of those things you take for granted and it’s just really noticeable when you have a bad one and are struggling to move around. This has definitely happened to me before on multiple occasions..so because I didn’t have luggage issues this time and didn’t really ever feel like I was struggling because of my luggage, I give it two thumbs up! I think it’s very worth the investment and I can’t think of much I wish was better. Since I don’t have experience with some of the other well-known brands that are more pricey than Béis, it’s more than good enough for me :) My cousin who has both an Away luggage and a Béis luggage says that she likes the Béis one much more:
Convertible Mini Weekender in Black:
Lots of handy and useful compartments
I especially love the trolley pass with luggage + zip front pocket that fits passport and boarding pass perfectly for easy access
Laptop felt secure and easy to get out which was very convenient for going through security at the airport (the entire case is removal, so you can use it as a separate laptop case without the bag)
Zipper bottom compartment was a good place to store shoes.. but I ended up putting things I didn’t rly need in this bag, so I didn’t really reach for it.
When I got on the flight, I would remove the bottom compartment so that it could fit under the seat. I would then put the bottom part in the overhead cabins. Removing the bottom compartment is easy, but it takes quite a bit of effort to zip it back on which I end up frantically doing once we land and the seatbelt signs are off. It’s usually okay if you aren’t in a rush and have to wait to get off the plane. Note: The entire bag will likely NOT fit under any economy seat unless you remove the bottom compartment. The best and quickest way I’ve found to put it back on is by flipping the bag upside down (depending on what you have in there.. might be easy/harder).
Holds its structure and is very sturdy. Because of its sturdy structure.. it acts as a great foot rest for when I’m on the plane. Good if you’re petite/short :)
I haven’t used it, but it does come with an additional longer strap.
I’ve seen some people use the bottom as a packing cube and they fit A LOT (watch this gal’s video… amazing O_O)
By far the biggest downfall, and honestly deal breaker / reason why I didn’t bring it on my second trip abroad was.. it is SO heavy! Because it has its own structure and has some metal in it (to hold that doctor bag shape).. it’s so heavy even before you put anything in it. It’s wonderful for a day trip or weekend road trip where you don’t need to lug it around.. but if you’re going through the airport without a carry on roller luggage to put this on top of, you’re going to have to carry it and it is annoyingly heavy. My shoulder actually hurt when I took this off.. and my mom and sister had super cheap light bags that also had a trolley pass. Our gate was SUPER far and I was miserable and they were not. LOL It’s a beautiful bag, but it’s not convenient for carrying around. My bag was already pretty empty and it was already ~17-20 pounds… so If I were to have truly packed it, I would have absolutely not wanted to carry it. So, overall, it might be a good second checked bag rather than a carry on... but then I wouldn’t feel comfortable checking in my laptop, etc. I ended up bringing my mom’s super cheap and flimsy bag on my second trip and I didn’t regret it at all.
I still see myself using this for quick trips, esp. in the summer when I pack lighter clothes. It was also really great during my one-day dance performance—I was able to stuff everything I needed. But for an international trip, I would really think about whether you would want to carry a heavy bag. It’s wonderful and looks great on top of the Béis luggage, but the good look couldn’t keep me from regretting LOL By the end of the trip, I was not a huge fan of it 😂
Cosmetic Case in Black:
I use this bag to fit all things bathroom—my toiletries, shower products, makeup bag, brushes, deodorant, oral care, etc.
Easy to clean material on the inside which is great for any product spills/leaks.
The zippers work nicely.
It can really fit a lot because of its shape! However, if you don’t have enough stuff to fill it to the brim, the items can be loose and shift around during transit… so I think it works best when you really fill it up :)
The mirror may come in handy, especially if you’re traveling with a big group and/or don’t have access to mirror to get ready.. pretty good quality mirror too.
Edit: My mirror broke at the beginning of my second trip. I think it broke during transit because when I opened it up at the first Airbnb, I found it shattered :( So I take back what I say about it being good quality LOL
I personally didn’t use the brush holder cause I have a more compact way to pack brushes (I stuff all my makeup brushes into an old plastic E.L.F. Concealer Brush box), but can see it being useful for people who have lots of brushes! It has a cool magnetic attachment that clips to the inside of the case.
I think it would be better to have handle on top center rather than on the side so that you don’t have to tilt the bag. I only say this because my parents have a similar-shaped toiletries bag that they got decades ago as a free gift from Estée Lauder and I find that my products don’t shift as much when I use theirs.
Overall, it’s nothing groundbreaking, but I do really like it and think it’s good quality. It’s really the shape that makes the bag for me, not anything about it being Béis… so if you find a similar case (rectangular shape.. which you can find all over the internet), I would recommend going with that if you’re looking for a more affordable option.
I’m kind of interested in their Dopp Kit too - I think that would be a great option if you don’t have quite as much stuff to fill out this case.
It’s pricey, but if you’re shopping Béis for luggages or bags already, using reward points to get this Cosmetic Case is a good deal.
East To West Tote in Beige:
I’ve used this (on my friend’s wedding day - I was the Maid of Honor and I threw everything I needed that day into this bag… and for a beach day), so I’ll update my thoughts once I use it more. But so far, I’m liking it!
EDIT: I’ve used this more now and love it! It’s my go-to tote bag (sorry to the Mini Weekender.. this one is way more convenient and easy to carry) and I’ve been using it as my carry-on item for trips.
Much lighter (in weight) than the Mini Weekender!!!
It fits a lot more than I expected! The flexible/soft material allows it to stretch and stuff more.
It has a nice slot for your laptop and many pockets on the inside and outside of the bag.
I haven’t used it with the additional longer strap, but it does include one if you’d like to wear it cross body/etc.
I wish the zipper sealed the entire bag (there are openings on each side from the top view).
It doesn’t have a trolley pass, so it wouldn’t be as secure to put on top of your luggage, but it could probably still be a great carry-on/personal item. I would consider bringing this on a trip next time :) If I do, I’ll let y’all know my thoughts! EDIT: hahaha IT DOES HAVE A TROLLEY PASS!!! The side pocket has a zipper bottom - once unzipped, it’s a trolley pass and can stay securely on top of your luggage. I felt like a fool when I discovered this at the airport hahaha
Again, not a huge fan of the lighter color in terms of cleanliness, but this material does seem easier to clean.
Two water bottle holders on the inside of the bag which come in handy!
It can fit under most plane seats! I say most because there was one plane ride where I sat aisle and my seat space was smaller than Ryan’s, so he put my big tote under his seat. But usually, it’s good! You just gotta squish it in there a little bit if your bag is full haha but I love using it as a foot rest.
Overall ratings:
Luggage: 5/5
Convertible Mini Weekender: 3/5 (really depends on your preference and what you plan to use it for)
Cosmetic Case: 4/5 (one point off for the price)
East To West Tote: 4.75/5
That’s all for now! Hope you all enjoyed this thorough review :) Let me know your thoughts / if this was helpful / if you have any questions! I’ll still try to make a video to show you all the products in action (and how they look after tossing around T_T). Thanks so much for reading :)
